![]() ![]() Like literally a square inch of solid fat. Brisket po boy had very very little meat and the meat that was present was fat. of nine had an assortment of dishes and drinks to attest to. Not sure if there was a change of ownership or management, but what a let down. This is a second review,…a follow up from quite some time ago… from a time I would have recommend The Bayou to anyone. I didnt have the full menu to taste so I cant judge everything but I hope my review is helpful to future customers and the staff. So if anyone reads this and wants to know If what I had was good, it certainly was, but if your "nit picky" then you might be slightly disappointed in some dishes. Im by no means a "food" blogger (hence why I dont include pictures) but I have been a home cook/level 2.5 chef (meaning I dont have a cullinary education but could pass as semi pro) for almost 40 years so im not totally clueless. The server was great and attentive (altho when we went was a thursday night and quiet, 4 couples eating there at the most) so no major issues or complaints, good meal and good service :). ![]() Other than the few little critiques I gave Id be happy to eat there again. Overall the meal was great, slightly pricey but not unexpected for the area and cost of things these days. Only suggestion (and thats all it is, not a complaint) is I would add some balsamic vinegar/reduction to them because it gets rid of a bit of the sulfuric bite brussel sprouts tend to have (why many kids hate them and other things from the cabbage family) The balsamic adds a hint of sweetness and tones down alot of the sulfuric tones. ![]() Now if you were going for a spicy chicken that the avg person would enjoy its fantastic, but for those of us who want "nashville hot", its "sub par on the spicy"Īs for the side, it was done great, they (brussel sprouts) were fried till crispy and a little bacon was added as well. Most I got was a little sting in the back of the throat and even my partner tried some (and she doesnt like super spicy) and even she said it was pretty mild. It was still good, but not nashville hot good. I think they only dipped (or dumped) some oil on it and called it a day. So the suggestion is, you are supposed to dip the chicken in screamin red chili oil, let it sit, then dip it a second time to get that chili oil to soak into the crust. Plus they didnt skimp on how many pieces they gave you. ![]() The chicken was super crispy, the coating wasnt falling off and it was nice and juicy. When I think nashville hot, I think fried chicken that is screamin red with chili oil and it stings your mouth pretty good for a decent length of time (you get nashville hot cause you want "hot") This looked like just standard fried chicken and again dont get me wrong the fried chicken was excellent by itself, but I would not call it "nashville hot". Now by all means dont take what im about to say as negative but more a suggestion to the chef/cooks. I had the Nashville Hot fried chicken which usually comes with "sweet mash" which I substituted fried brussel sprouts (because im not a fan of sweet potatoes). My girlfriend ordered the surf and turf mac n cheese, she said its very good, I tasted one of the shrimp and it was perfectly cooked and not rubbery which alot of places make the mistake of doing in mac n cheese so a thumbs up there. who makes them myself I suggest thicker cuts of the tomato so people can taste what the dish is supposed to be about, still good flavors but yeah disappointing on the tomato part of the dish. The sauce and the breading overpowered them. Only complaint was the tomatoes were so thin you couldnt taste them. The tomatoes were perfectly fried and breaded. So me and my girlfirend/partner went for dinner, For our appetizer we ordered fried green tomatoes.
